About Department

Electrical-Department The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and NAAC. The department is one of the well established departments imparting quality education to UG (Electrical) and PG (Integrated Power Systems) programmes. The department also offers Ph.D. programme to promote research activities in the various areas of Electrical Engineering. The department has wide research publications in reputed International/National conferences as well as SCI index journals like IEEE Transactions, IET, Elesivier, Journal of Power Electronics, Taylor & Francis etc. The department is having well established laboratories with computing facility having software’s like MATLAB, EMTDC/PSCAD, SKM Power Tools, VSIM, PSIM and CASPOC.

Program Educational Objective for UG program are:

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Undergraduate engineering programmes are designed to prepare graduates to attain the following program outcomes:
  • PO 1 – Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO 2 – Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO 3 –Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO 4 – Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO 5 – Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

MTECH Programme Educational Objectives OF PG Programme (PEO IPS)

Electronics-DepartmentWelcome to the department of Electrical Engineering, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Hingna road, Wanadongri, Nagpur. The Electrical Engineering Department of YCCE established in 1986 is one of the most sought after department in the region by the aspiring engineering students looking to build their career as electrical engineers. The demand for electrical power and related systems is increasing rapidly and electrical engineers are in great demand to meet the requirements of the growing industry. The department offers undergraduate program B.E. in Electrical Engineering with an intake of 120 and postgraduate programs in Integrated Power System with intake of 12. The Department is also a recognized research centre for Ph.D. affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. It offers doctoral programmes in key areas of Electrical Engineering. Till date the department has received grants worth rupees 1 crore from various funding agencies for research and laboratory development. The Department has established a good Industrial network by signing MoU’s with various Industries thereby establishing a good Industry connect to open up opportunities of industrial exposure to the students through internship and certificate programmes. Since its inception the Department of Electrical Engineering has been providing excellent opportunities of placements to the students in the core as well as IT sector. Our students are placed in state and national generation, transmission, distribution companies and many public and private sector companies like PGCI, NTPC, BHEL, TATA POWER, TCS, ACCENTURE, INFOSYS, WIPRO etc. Students have opted for higher education in reputed Institutes in India and abroad in sectors like Renewable Energy, Power System, Control, Power Electronics and Information Technology. Our students have received best student award of Institute and best project award of TCS for two consecutive years. Department provides a platform to students for extracurricular activities through a forum namely Society for Future Electrical Engineers (SOFEE). Students regularly represent YCCE in various cultural and sports activities in the university competitions like basketball and kabbadi. Students have published papers in various reputed journals, conferences and won awards in various competitions. Students also publish departmental magazine namely “Agnistok”. Our Alumni have made us proud by achieving successful careers in their chosen field. The department has a good blend of experienced and energetic young faculties who work with excellent team spirit in different technical areas like renewable energy, power electronic, electrical drives, power system, controls etc. The department has 3 patents granted and 15 patents are published. The department faculty members are also involved in consultancy of electrical energy and safety audit for industry, commercial and technical organizations. The department strives to provide a conducive environment for the students to develop analytical and practical skills and apply them to real world problems. To motivate the students the department organizes regular training workshops. To meet the needs and challenges, the department has a firm commitment to develop and produce electrical engineers of high technical knowledge combined with leadership skills, decision making, design capabilities and problem solving. Mrs Vaishali Rodge told about the challenges faced by freshers in the corporate world and made the students aware about the skills they should acquire to meet this challenge. Dr. Arvinder Kour told the students how they can utilize their time during college life in order to enhance their careers. The Guest Lecture was organized by Prof. B. S. Sudame for the students of Fifth Semester (EL). The session was conducted by Er. Arbaz Reza Nagpur. He guided the students about the Self Driving Vehicles. They highlighted about the reliable and sustainable technology to enhance mobility and how to develop affordable solutions for mobility on Indian roads.. Dr. S.G.Kadwane offered a floral welcome to the guest while the introduction of the speaker was given by Prof. B. S. Sudame. After the talk students raised questions regarding the Self Driving Vehicles, the students were pleased with the answers of speaker. The program ended with vote of thanks.

Development Programme in online mode was organized by Electrical Engineering Department of Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur from 9th Dec to 14th Dec,2022 at 11am for the faculties . Arduino is an open-source electronics platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino consists of both a physical programmable circuit board or microcontroller and software IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that runs on the computer. It is used to write and upload computer code to the physical board. It is intended for making interactive projects.

Mrunmayee Gujar (MS Energy systems from Northeastern University),working as  Manager in Grid Integration Group,atNexamp,Boston,Massachussets,US.

Speaker of the session provided gentle Introduction on Nexamp which is a clean energy company also added what are the basic function of work carried out in it. . She also made aware about policy and process of interconnection of solar power to Grid. Idea behind this event was to give idea on all aspects of interconnection of solar power to Grid. Along with the discussion students interacted on several issues while interconnecting,advantages & disadvantages. Total 97 students participated in the programme through online Google meet mode.

We at our department organized A One Day Student Development Program which was held on Wednesday 18 November 2020. The topic of the presentation was “Protection System in EHV Sub-Station”. Almost 100 students of Vth Semester attended the program. The Speaker for the program was Mr.Laxmikant Padmawar who is alumni of the department (Batch 2009).  Mr. Laxmikant Padmawar has worked as Assistant System Engineer with TCS in 2010. His role was Software Testing and Development. He is currently working as Deputy Executive Engineer at MSETCL, Thane, Maharashtra.

Electrical Engineering Department of YCCE Nagpur organized one day Student Development Program (SDP) on “Employability skills: A Perspective of Corporate World” on Monday, 03rd February, 2020 in Centralized Computer Centre Hall, YCCE. Mrs Vaishali Rodge told about the challenges faced by freshers in the corporate world and made the students aware about the skills they should acquire to meet this challenge. Dr. Arvinder Kour told the students how they can utilize their time during college life in order to enhance their careers. Prof. Jawed Shaikh appraised the students about the process adopted by the corporate during campus placement drives and told the students how they should start preparing to face the campus placement drives.
