In the past years, Civil Engineers have been instrumental in the design and construction of various infrastructural marvels such as buildings, bridges, highways, water treatment facilities, and environmental structures. Today, the role of a Civil Engineer extends beyond mere construction; they must also assess the impact of degradation on infrastructure, taking into account environmental and economic sustainability. To meet the evolving demands of the field, Civil Engineers require a comprehensive understanding of both traditional principles and cutting-edge technologies to address complex interdisciplinary challenges. Our institution stands as one of the best engineering colleges in Nagpur, offering a comprehensive four-year Bachelor’s Degree program in Civil Engineering, boasting an intake of 120 students. We also offer a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering for working professionals, with a capacity of 30 students. Additionally, we provide specialized two-year Master’s degree courses in Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering, with intakes of 18 and 12, respectively. Moreover, we offer three programs for B.Tech. Honors in Civil Engineering and a program of B.Tech. Minor in Civil Engineering.
Recognized as an active research hub under the RTM Nagpur University, our Civil Engineering department has conferred 37 Ph.D. degrees and 01 M.E. by Research degree. Presently, 16 Ph.D. research scholars are actively pursuing their research endeavors within the department. The Civil Engineering Department has 21 Ph.D. faculty members and 07 faculty members are pursuing their doctoral degree.
With an A++ grade accreditation from the NAAC in 2022, our institution is among the best in Central India. NBA accreditation was granted to the B.Tech. in Civil Engineering program for a period of six years in 2023. NBA accreditation for three years was granted to the M. Tech. in Structural Engineering program in 2023. The department’s scope of non-destructive testing in the Concrete Technology Laboratory has been accredited by NABL.
Equipped with a dedicated computer center furnished with essential resources such as computers, printers, scanners, and industry-standard software like AutoCAD, STAAD-Pro, ETABS, and Auto-Civil, our students have access to cutting-edge technology. Furthermore, networking and internet facilities further enhance the learning experience.
Over the years, our department has nurtured and produced numerous distinguished engineers who have made substantial contributions across various sectors within the Civil Engineering domain.

Welcome to the esteemed Department of Civil Engineering at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur, accredited A++ Grade by NAAC in 2022. One of the best engineering colleges in Nagpur, ranked among the top institutions in central India for Engineering & Technology. Established in 1984, our department provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for academic and research pursuits. Offering a comprehensive undergraduate program in B.Tech. Civil Engineering with an intake of 120 students received NBA accreditation for 06 years in 2023. We also offer a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering for working professionals, with a capacity of 30 students. Along with specialized postgraduate programs in Structural Engineering received NBA accreditation for 03 years in 2023 and Environmental Engineering, our department is dedicated to academic excellence and innovation. Recognized as a research center affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, we have successfully conferred 37 Ph.D. degrees, with 16 research scholars currently engaged in doctoral studies. Our faculty members, comprising 21 Ph.D. holders and 07 doctoral candidates, are deeply committed to fostering excellence in both teaching and research.
With a focus on practical training and hands-on experience, our curriculum prepares students for dynamic careers in construction, environmental, water resources, transportation, and geotechnical engineering domains.
The department also received NABL accreditation for scope of non-destructive testing in Concrete Technology Laboratory.
To enhance the overall learning experience, our department offers minor programs in Civil Engineering and three honor programs in Construction Technology, Environmental Engineering, and Remote Sensing & GIS. We actively engage with professional bodies such as the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), providing students with opportunities for networking and skill development.
Furthermore, our department facilitates internships and industry collaborations with prestigious organizations like CSIR-NEERI, Ashtavinayak Planner & Developers Pvt. Ltd., and CADD Center Training Services Pvt. Ltd., enabling students to gain practical exposure and real-world insights.
