The Department of Information Technology at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), one of the best engineering colleges in Nagpur, has been at the forefront of innovation since its establishment in 2001. Offering a B.Tech program in Information Technology with an intake of 120 students. The department is committed to excellence in education and research.

Recognized as a top engineering college in Nagpur, the Department of Information Technology provides specialized Honors and Minors Programs in Java Full Stack Web Development.

Accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in its second cycle, the B.Tech program in Information Technology has received an extension until June 2023, underscoring its quality and relevance in the industry. The department also serves as an approved research center for Ph.D. programs in Information Technology & Computer Science affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.

With a focus on practical learning and industry exposure, the department has initiated semester-long internships for final-year students at reputed IT companies. Our esteemed faculty members, renowned experts in fields such as Image Processing, Computer Vision, High-Performance Computing, Data Mining & Machine Learning, and Computer Networking, actively contribute to research and academic publications.

Emphasizing holistic development, the department administers the student chapter of the Computer Society of India (CSI) for YCCE, organizing technical events, programming contests, quizzes, and web designing competitions. The student council, SPIRIT (Society of Passionate Individuals Representing Information Technology), fosters all-round development through various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including inter/intra college competitions and social outreach initiatives under the ‘AURA’ student forum.

Program Educational Objectives of the program (PEO)

  • PEO 1 – To prepare students to succeed in employment, profession and/or to pursue postgraduate education in Information Technology discipline in particular and allied engineering disciplines in general.
  • PEO 2 – To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals required to formulate, analyse and solve engineering problems related to Information technology in particular and engineering practice in general.
  • PEO 3 – To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth so as to innovate, design and create systems and to contribute in providing solutions to real life problems.
  • PEO 4 – To inculcate in students professional attitude, effective communication skills and teamwork to become a successful professional in global perspective.
  • PEO 5 – To provide student with an academic environment aware of excellence, ethics, transparency, leadership and to promote awareness of life-long learning

Program Outcomes (POs)

At the end of Program, Graduate students will have

  • PO 1 –Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO 2 –Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  • PO 3 – Design/ Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
  • PO 4 – Conduct investigations of complex problems: use research based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO 5 – Modern Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an under- standing of the limitations
  • PO 6 – The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
  • PO 7 –Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  • PO 8 – Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
