Industrial visit to “Global Logic India Pvt. Ltd”

Students of information Technology Department, YCCE had visited GlobalLogic India Pvt. Ltd, Mihan Nagpur on 5th October 2016 with 3 faculty members namely, Mr. R. C. Dharmik, Ms. N. R. Wankhade, and Mr. S. S. Chavhan.The visit was a part of their industrial visit program which the college had arranged who were seeking specialization in Information Technology. The students were welcomed by Ms. GagandeepKour Head People Development(HR) and Ms. Ojita Mishra, Member People Development (HR), GlobalLogic India Pvt. Ltd at conference hall of Company.Under the guidance of Mr. Sanjay Gawande, Dy. Manager - Employee Services at GlobalLogic, we visited various facility centers, labs, Server room and cabin area of Employee’s. During the guidance he answered various questions asked by students.

The Department of Information Technology and Training & Placement, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering organized one day industrial visit to Persistent Systems Pvt. Ltd. (India),Parsodi, Nagpur, on 24th, January 2017 for 3rdYear students of Computer Technology & Information Technology Department. This visit was coordinated by Mr. S. S. Chavhan. It was supported by Respected HOD Dr. U. H. Gawande and Training and Placement officer Mr. N. S. Wakhare along with Departmental teaching staff Members Mr. Amol Gaikwad, Mrs. Priyanka G. Jaiswal, Ms. Apurva Naik. Total 130 students from 3rdyear and 4 Faculty Members has visited the Company. The students got benefited in terms of the technical details provided by the company on an important part of RecruitmentPolicy of Company.

Research Laboratory visit at “Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre(M.R.S.A.C.)

The Department of Information Technology, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering organized Research lab visit to Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (M.R.S.A.C) Nagpur, on 28thDecember 2016 for Third Year Students of   Information Technology Department. This visit was coordinated by Mr. S. S. Chavhan. It was supported by Dr. U. H. Gawande and Departmental teaching staff Members Mrs. R. A. Fadanvis, Mrs. S.G. Kale. Total 64 students from Third year IT and 3 Faculty Members has visited the Research Lab. The students got benefited in terms of the technical details provided by the M.R.S.A.C on an important part of Project selection and development of various applications. The students were welcomed by Dr. Sanjay Apturkar Associate Scientist at (M.R.S.A.C) at conference hall of M.R.S.A.C. Dr. Sanjay Apturkar conducted the seminar session for about 2 hour 30 min which covered National Wetland Inventory and Assessment, National Land Use Land Cover Mapping Using Multi-Temporal Satellite Data For Year 2005, Digitization and Geo-referencing of Village-wise Soil Maps in GIS Environment, Application of Remote Sensing and GIS in Sericulture, Road Information System (RIS),etc.

Industrial Tour-Hyderabad , on 9th – 11th December 2016

Department of Information Technology had organized Industrial Visit to Hyderabad, scheduled from 9thto 11thDec 2016. Around 55 students along with 5 faculty members from Information Technology Department had visited two different companies in Hyderabad. The first visit was scheduled on 09th Dec 2016 to STPI (Software Technology Parks of India, Hyderabad), where the students get a brief awareness about various functional units of Software Development Centre and the second visit was on 11th Dec 2016 to Anand Food Products Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, where the students gain brief knowledge about the ERP based manufacturing units of the company. Faculty members from Information Technology Department are Prof. Sachin Jain, Prof. (Mrs.) Priyanka Jaiswal, Prof. Kamal Hajari, Prof. Pankaj Hatwar, and Prof. (Ms.) Apurva Naik put a lot of efforts for the smooth conduction of the tour and to make it a grand success. It was the Head of Department Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, without whose support and guidance the tour couldn’t be so successful and fruitful.

Dr. Jayanta Mukhopadhyay, Professor, Computer Science & Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, was invited as Visiting Professor under the Visiting Professor Scheme (VPS) of MGI, organized by the Department of Information Technology, Yeshwantrao Chauhan College of Engineering, Nagpur. A series of lectures were scheduled on various topics of the area “Digital Image Processing” for the 4th, 6th and 8th semester UG, 4th Semester PG students and the faculties of Information Technology Department. The programme was started on 16thFebruary 2017 and concluded on 21st Feb 2017. Around 200 students and 20 faculties of Information Technology Department get benefited with the programme

One week ISTE approved STTP on “Exposure to research areas in the field of Natural Language Processing”

Department of Information Technology organized the ISTE approved One week STTP on “Exposure to research areas in the field of Natural Language Processing” during 14th – 19th Nov. 2016. The STTP was coordinated by Dr. U. H. Gawande, Prof. Swati Kale, Prof. A. Gaikwad, Prof. P. Tambekar and Prof. A. Naik. The technical and practical sessions were taken by Dr. U. A. Deshpane, Dr. Garaje, Dr. U. Shrawankar, Dr. Avinash Agarwal, Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, Prof. R. Fadnavis, Prof. S. Kale, Prof. N. Wankhade and Mr. Kamal Hajari. This STTP includes technical sessions on Basics of NLP, Machine Translation and Practical session on NLP using JAVA and Python. This STTP had also provided a platform to exchange views, ideas and the latest information of different NLP concepts. The main objective of this workshop was knowledge up gradation of faculties and PG students, so that they can apply the same in their research.

Two days’ workshop on“Aptitude Development”

The Department of Information Technology organized two daysworkshop on “Aptitude Development” in association My Campus Recruitment (MCR),Gate Academy, Nagpuron 12th and 13th August 2016. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Sachin Jain and Prof. Kamal Hajari, IT. Dept. The main speakers were Mr. Hitesh Dewani, Founder HR Mentor, Nagpur and Mr. Vishesh Prasad, Soft Skill Trainer at ADCC Academy. Mr. K. D. Gupta, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning expert at Gate Academy. This workshop was organized for students of various engineering colleges. The two day workshop includes various sessions on “Quantitative Aptitude”, “Group Discussion”, “How to Face Personal Interview”, and “Logical Reasoning”. This workshop had also provided a platform to exchange views, ideas and the latest information among students. The main objective of
this workshop was knowledge up gradation of students, to remove stage fear.

Blood Donation Camp

Department of Information Technology organized Blood Donation Camp under the banner of AURA (a social forum for students) on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 in association with Ayush Blood Bank, Nagpur. The venue for the camp was ground floor, Dept. of I.T. It received an overwhelming response and around 325 students and faculties from various institutions across the city participated willingly for the same. Despite the ineligibility of huge participants we made it to 168 successful blood donations. The event started at 08.00AM in the morning and was inaugurated by Head of Department Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, IT, by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Cloth Donation Camp

Department of Information Technology organized Cloth Donation Camp under the banner of AURA (a social forum for students) during 17th to 21st October 2016. The venue for the camp was ground floor, Dept. of I.T. It received an overwhelming response and around 500 students and faculties from different department of YCCE participated willingly for the same. The main aim of this camp was to help poor people in Nagpur by donating cloths to them. The event concluded on 21st October 2016 at 08.00am in evening with full of enthusiasm and zeal.

Two days National level Technical Fest “iTECHROOTS 7.0

Department of Information Technology, YCCE Nagpur has organized Two days National level Technical Fest “iTECHROOTS 7.0during 14th - 15th August 2016, under the banner of SPIRIT - Computer Society of India (CSI), New Delhi. The convener of the Technical Fest was Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, Head of Information Technology Department. The Chief Guest of the program was Mr. Deepak Menaria, Chief Idea Former, Lemon Ideas, Nagpur. The Technical Fest was coordinated by Prof. Sachin Jain and co-coordinated by Prof. Kamal Hajari. Various events conducted in “iTECHROOTS 7.0”, were “Code Knight Battle”, “Photoarena”, “Minute To Win IT”, “Time Hunt”, “Auction King”, “Quiz Mania”, “Rock the Campus”, “Chakravyuh”, “Game zone” and “Workshop on Aptitude Development”. Around 1200 students from YCCE, VNIT, GHRCE, St. Vincent Palloti, SB Jain, SDMP, RGCER, KDK and other engineering colleges participated in the Technical Fest. The program was inaugurated by the hands of Mr. Deepak Menaria. He had also given a keynote address on “Entrepreneurship Development”. The program was aimed to provide a platform for the students to exhibit their talent in various technical and nontechnical events. The program concluded with awarding prizes, mementos, and certificates to the winners and participants of various events.

One day workshop on “Pattern Recognition”

The Department of Information Technology organized one day workshop on “Pattern Recognition” on 29th July 2016. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Kishor Bhoyar, Professor and Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, HOD, IT. Dept. The eminent main speaker of the workshop was Dr. Uday Kulkarni, Professor, Computer Science Engineering, SGGSIE&T, Nanded. This workshop was organized for UG, PG students, and faculties. The one day workshop includes technical sessions on Basics of Neural Networks, Neuron Model, Network Model, Neural Processing Terminologies, Learning Fundamentals and Artificial Neural Network.This workshop had also provided a platform to exchange views, ideas and the latest information of different pattern recognition approaches and machine learning algorithms. The main objective of this workshop was knowledge up gradation of UG, PG students, and faculties so that the same can be used in teaching, UG, PG projects, and research.

Two days’ workshop on “MATLAB 9.0”

The Department of Information Technology organized two daysworkshop on “MATLAB 9.0” in association with Capricot Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabadon 1st and 2nd August 2016. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Manish Hadap, IT. Dept. The main speakers were Mr. Prem Kumar, Product Manager-Mathworks, Capricot Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad and Mr. Nilesh Thakare, Product Specialist-Mathworks, Capricot Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad. This workshop was organized for Faculty members of various engineering colleges. The two day workshop includes technical sessions and hands-on practice on Algorithm Development with MATLAB, Dynamic Modelling with Simulink, Introduction to Low Cost Hardware like Arduino, Lego Mindstorms, Raspberry Pi, Beagle Board, Microsoft Kinect and etc. This workshop had also provided a platform to exchange views, ideas and the latest information of MATLAB 9.0. The main objective of this workshop was knowledge up gradation of teachers, so that the same can be used in teaching, projects, and research.

Seminar on “Awareness about cervical cancer”

The Department of Information Technology organized a seminar on “Awareness about Cervical Cancer” in association with Snehanchal, NGO, Nagpur, on 7th January 2017. The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, IT. Dept. The main speaker was Dr. Rohini Patil, Obstetrician and Gynecologist (MBBS, MD), Nagpur. Around 100 ladies employees of YCCE got benefited with the seminar. The participants were enriched with the knowledge of about cervical cancer, symptoms of cervical cancer.

One day “Induction Program”

Department of Information Technology, YCCE Nagpur had organized one day Induction Program for 2nd year student of IT Dept. on 22ndAugust 2016. Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, HOD, IT introduced the Department to newly joined students by covering various topics in informative session, such as Major Highlights, Best Practices, Student Policies, Publications, Various Cultural, Non-Technical and technical activities, Workshop organized for students, etc. Prof. R. Fadnavis gave the detailed presentation on Outcome Based Education including Mission, Vision, PEOs, COs, Pos etc. Dr. Kishor Bhoyar covered various topics on Why IT Department, Curriculum, and Academics etc. The Induction program was coordinated by Ms. Kiran Gavhale. The main objective of this induction program was to give awareness to students regarding Department, student policies, facilities, and opportunities, etc. This will help all UG students to know more about their parent Department.

17th –19th February 2017

Department of Information Technology organized three days’ workshop on “Android Application Development”, during 17th – 19th February 2017. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Ujwalla Gawande, HOD, IT. Dept. and Prof. Kamal Hajari, Assistant Professor, IT. Dept. The main speaker of the workshop was Mr. Deepak Dhote, Operational Manager, IT-NetworkZ Infosystems Pvt. Ltd and Mr AnupPardhi, Technical Coordinator: IT-NetworkZ Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. This workshop was organized for 4th semester students. Around 80 student attended the workshop. The threedays’ workshop includes technical sessions on Basics of JAVA, Android front end and Back end connection, Practical implementation of Android application development. This workshop had also provided a platform to exchange views, ideas and the latest information of different JAVA concepts. The main objective of this workshop was knowledge up gradation of UG students so, that the same can be used in industries.

15th– 16th, December 2016

The Department of information Technology organized two days Student Development Programme, “Introduction to Business Intelligence” on 15th– 16th, December 2016 in association with Infocept Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur. The Workshop was coordinated by Mrs. R. A. Fadanvis, Mr. Sushil Chavhan, and Ms. Apurva Naik in association with Infocept Pvt. Ltd.  The resource persons were Arup Duttaroy Group Manager - Business Assurance & HR, RasikFulzale, Solution Architect at InfoCepts, Mr. Survat Rai BI Consultant, Mr. Yogesh Rajak Technical Architect and key member, Mr. SagarMiglani Associate Consultant at InfoCepts and Ms. Saima Siddique HR from InfoCepts Nagpur. The Workshop was attended by 6th semester students. There were 70 students participants. The program was designed to give industry exposure to students for future campus selection process and aware them Business Analysis Process with aims to demonstrate that if business managers are to make informed decisions, Business intelligence is vital.  

23rd and 24th January 2017

Department of Information Technology organized two days’ workshop on “Text Editing using Latex” during 23rd and 24thJanuary 2017. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Priyanka Jaiswal and Prof. Apurva Naik, Assistant Professor, IT. Dept.Around50 student of 8th semester attended the workshop. The three days’workshop includes technical sessions on Basics of document formatting, Hands-on document creation using Latex. The program was designed to give Knowledge and Exposure to LaTex Text Editor for Project Thesis Report Preparation and for gaining knowledge about the LaTex Technology.

Department of Information Technology organized orientation program on Internship at overseas program for all final year student of YCCE, RGCER, and DBCER on 30th January 2017 in association with T & P, YCCE. The internship program provides facilitate the student to get exposure to GIS development in overseas companies. The main Speaker was Valrie Grant, Managing Director, GeoTechVision, Jamaica
