About Department

  • The Department of Computer Technology, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering was established in 1985 and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation and provides an outstanding research environment complemented by excellence in teaching.
  • The Department offers UG Programme in Computer Technology, M.Tech (CSE) & Ph.D.
  • The curricula of programmes have been designed to cater to the ever changing needs and demands of IT industry with a proper blend of professional core and industry aligned electives.
  • The Department has the vision to become a benchmark technical institution where learning is a joy, education is for the tomorrow, R&D is pace setting and everyone is committed to delivering competent human resource for prosperity and well being of industry, profession and society.
  • The Department has the mission to prepare competent, need based human resource and responsible citizens for engineering profession through dissemination of knowledge and development of technical skills and create an environment that fosters the involvement and commitment of all stakeholders for continuous improvement in performance and quality
  • The Department offers four different thrust area such as Computer Network, Computer Vision and Soft Computing, Data Mining and Language Processor under which various activity related to research is carried out.
  • The Department has excellent infrastructure and computing equipment supported by high speed Ethernet and wireless networks. Various student organizations like ACM Chapter, Computer Technology Student Chapter (CTSC), are active throughout the year. The Department has undertaken many research projects funded both by multinationals and government agencies. The department takes an initiative in organizing various faculty development program under government bodies.

  • To prepare students to succeed in employment/profession and/or to pursue doctoral research in Computer Science discipline.(Preparation).
  • To provide students with scholarly knowledge to innovate, design, analyze, develop engineering problems related to Computer Science and to contribute in providing solutions to multidisciplinary real life problems (Core &Breadth).
  • To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills and teamwork to become a successful professional (Professionalism).

  • Preparation : To prepare students to succeed in employment/profession and/or to pursue post graduate and research educations in Computer Technology discipline in particular and allied engineering disciplines in general.
  • Core Competance : To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals required to formulate, analyze and solve engineering problems requiring knowledge of Computer Technology.
  • Breadth : To prepare students with engineering breadth to innovate, design, develop software products and to contribute in providing solutions related to multidisciplinary real life problem.
  • Professionalism : To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills and teamwork to become a successful professional.

  • Engineering knowledge : Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization for the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis : Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions : Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems : Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage : Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society : Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
